WELCOME TO BLD's NEWSLETTERWelcome to our February 2008 Newsletter. In line with our main theme of 2008 of raising aspirations, we officially launched our Legal Launch Pad (LLP)programme on 31 January at DLA Piper on the 31 January in London and received media coverage including in The Lawyer, Legal Week and The Law Society Gazette. The LLP launch was a truly remarkable action-packed agenda with students rating it as meeting and exceeding their expectations and you can read more here. We would like to thank our sponsors for their commitment and support. We are already working on this year's programme which will be bigger and we would welcome new sponsors on board. Our Today's Children, Tomorrow's Lawyers (TCTL) programme has also been launched and BLD vodcasts went live that day on the website and we have short-listed schools in Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester to take part. Aspiring solicitors take note that we are running a Training Contract and Work placement workshop in London, hosted by Addleshaw Goddard. For booking information and to download event flyer, see here. On 25 January about 50 of us went to the National Theatre to see Kwame Kwei Armah's play Statement of Regret and met the cast after the show. A great night out! Still about the theatre, The Tricycle Theatre is looking for lawyers who would like to act! even if the deadline has passed, you never know! Read more. Lawyer of the Month
